T'AI CHI FOR ALL

CLASSES EXTENDED DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND!
As the summer sun comes streaming into the glorious State Room, we invite every body to come and experience the ‘moving meditation’ of T’ai Chi.
Open to all ages, and no experience necessary, you will be led through this gentle exercise that promotes relaxation, balance, health and fitness. Practised for over 3,000 years, T’ai Chi is renowned for reducing physical and mental strains, and setting you on the path to a tranquil mind.
Led by instructor Paul Neary, there is no better way to spend a Sunday morning than in hidden tranquility right in the centre of York.

TREASURE, TOURS AND TEA

After another busy year at York Mansion House, on December 22nd this magnificent building will close its doors on 2019, and begin 2020 undergoing essential conservation work, getting the house and collections ready for reopening on January 25th.
While the house is under wraps for The New Year Clean, we are offering you the chance to see behind the scenes of this immense undertaking, joining an exclusive tour that will take you through the house, the conservation work, and the treasure being preserved.
Led by one of our expert members of staff, each tour will explore a different aspect of conservation. From delicate silver polishing, to repairs at the highest point of the State Room, the work will reveal stories and secrets of this remarkable home, and the precious objects within it. You may even get the opportunity to learn some techniques for yourself, seeing the evolution from historic methods of preservation, to modern day practises.
Following the tour, why not join us for tea and cake in the State Room, ending your visit in style.
